About HeyGirlWellness

What We Do

We create culturally-rooted, relatable, and real content that empowers African women to move, eat, rest, love, and heal on their own terms.

From digital editorial features to wellness retreats, training tips to mental health resources, we combine bold storytelling with expert insights to help African women feel whole inside and out.

We live for getting rid of all stereotypes associated with body building, powerlifting, and hard core fitness and workouts as it relates to the femininity and masculinity of the African woman’s body.

Whether you’re just starting your fitness journey, deep in your healing era, or somewhere in between, HeyGirlWellness is your sisterhood, your gym partner, your hype woman, and your safe space all in one.

Who We Are

We are HeyGirlWellness, a wellness movement made by African women, for African women.

We’re here for the African women who lift, who stretch, who rest. The ones who are soft and strong, bold and vulnerable, all at once. We believe in taking up space in the gym, in the kitchen, in the workplace, and allowing space for the way the African body is shaped in muscle and with metal.

We’re not just about fitness, we believe in the fullness of whichever way the African woman’s fitness look like. And we exist to remind every African woman that she doesn’t have to shrink or aspire to exotic body image standards to be powerful.

Who We Are

Who We’re For

African women everywhere.
The ones who dance between tradition and transformation.
The ones breaking generational myths and building stronger bodies.
The ones who are tired of being left out of the global wellness conversation.

We see you. We are you. And this space is yours.

Who We Are

Our Mission

To celebrate and support the wholeness of African women through fitness, food, rest, movement, community, and care.

We exist to help women move like women, heal like women, and lead like women, boldly and unapologetically.

Our Vision

A world where every African woman is empowered to own her strength, her softness, and her wellness and fitness story without compromise or apology.

 Our Founder’s Story

I created HeyGirlWellness because I fell in love with fitness, wellness, and health, and I wanted more African women to have the freedom to do the same, without judgment.

I was tired of the narrative that said if an African woman lifts heavy, trains hard, or builds muscle, she’s somehow ‘too masculine.’ I built this space to challenge those myths and to show that wellness is about feeling good, getting stronger, and doing it your way.

It’s not about shrinking yourself or chasing aesthetics. It’s about rising into the most powerful version of who you are, however you choose to move, heal, and live.”

Born from lived experience and built from the ground up, HeyGirlWellness was founded to bridge the cultural gap in the global wellness space so our stories could finally be told by us, for us.
